Survivor Sunday

How to Participate in Survivor Sunday

Talk to the pastor or priest of your church and ask him if you can lead this project in your church.  Explain to him that you want to be a voice and present a pro-life message your church the Sunday before the 37th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade.  Explain to him that it is important for your generation to be a voice and you want the support of your church as you spread the pro-life message.

If you and the youth group will be presenting the message:

1. Get permission from your church. Be sure to approach your pastor or priest with humility and respect.  Do not demand to be allowed to do this project, but show him your passion for the babies.  Let him know that your presentation will be done with love and compassion.  Let him know that you are following Christ’s command to love your neighbor as yourself as you are being a voice for your neighbors who do not have one.
2. Recruit your friends to be a part of this event.  Get as many of the youth in your church to be involved as possible.
3. Have the all of the youth on stage as you are making your presentation.  Have one third of them wear a piece of red duct tape over their mouth with the word “life” or “SILENCED” written on it.  During your presentation explain that these kids represent those who have been killed by abortion.
4. Make a video presentation with all of the kids in your youth group.
5. Present a skit or drama.

If your pastor or Sunday School teacher is going to give a pro-life message:

1. Ask your pastor if you and the other youth can wear the life tape to church as a visual aid.  Your pastor can use this to discuss how 1/3 of your generation has been silenced by abortion. (Life tape is red duct tape with the word life written on it, it is generally worn over the mouth). 
2. Ask your pastor to focus on what abortion has done to this generation and why it is important for people to support youth pro-life work.

Other ideas to incorporate:

1. Ask your local pregnancy resource center to set up a booth and bring things like fetal models or show a 4-D ultrasound video.
2. Take a special offering and donate the money to pregnancy resource center or pro-life organization of your choice.
3. Ask your church to commit to adopting a local abortion mill to pray for each week.  Ask them to pray for the babies, mothers and fathers.  Ask them to also pray for the salvation of the abortion doctors and clinic workers.
4. Ask your church to set asides funds for your youth group to use for pro-life outreach throughout the year.
